These hand-carved figurines are made from sustainably harvested Tagua
Nuts from Ecuador.
Why are these cute figurines less expensive? They are a little smaller, and a little less detailed than our other figurines.
It takes years for artisans to develop the skills required to hand-carve detailed figurines (see links above for
many more figurines). These smaller figurines offer aspiring artisans in Ecuador a valuable opportunity to hone their
skills in carving "Vegetable Ivory" in this productive use of renewable resources.
