Elephant Hat | Lion Hat |
These fun lion, elephant and zebra kid's hats are knit by
Kenana Knitters - the same group that makes our ponchos,
including the ponchos that the women are wearing in this photo.
Kenana Knitters was started in 1998 to help rural women find a much needed form of income.
They work on Kenana Farm and live nearby in the town of Njoro, a couple hours outside of Nairobi, Kenya.
In addition to earning an income based on fair wages, the knitters have access to free HIV/AIDS testing
once a month, and can obtain basic medicine from a mobile clinic that regularly visits the farm.
