Weaving Elephant Grass Baskets in Ghana, Africa
Ghana was the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to emerge from colonial rule in 1957.
Ghana is now known for its rich culture and diverse landscapes,
including the savannah grasslands where the weavers get the materials for these practical and decorative totes.
The heavy elephant grass is tightly woven to make the bags strong .
Colors and weaving designs are varied.
You'll often get to choose between "bright" or "subdued" colors.
Plus, you may tell us if you have any other preferences in colors in the
optional "Special Instruction" area at checkout.
You may also wish to see a variety of baskets on our Ghana Baskets page.
