Guatemalan Computer Laptop Sleeves

Help decorate and protect your laptop computer with a computer sleeve, crafted by women living on the outskirts of Guatemala City in an impoverished area called "La Esperanza" (Hope). La Esperanza has changed from being a squatter settlement with shacks made from scraps of tin, plastic, wood and cardboard, without a sewage system, lacking electricity and potable water, to a colony with cement block houses, underground sewage pipes and other basic services.

The mission of UPAVIM - United to Live Better - is to empower the women of the community, giving them an opportunity to improve the quality of life for themselves and for their families. Working together, these women have improved their community.

They established a community medical clinic and dental clinic, a scholarship and tutoring program, an infant growth monitoring and breast-feeding promotion program, a daycare center with Montessori-trained teachers, plus this craft project to generate income for the individual women and for these community programs. Most importantly, these Guatemalan women have maintained a spirit of HOPE, which many in similar circumstances lost long ago. By purchasing their products, such as Christmas ornaments, nativities, and these laptop computer sleeves, you're helping to support an entire Guatemalan community.

Laptop Computer Sleeve   $28.00 each UPA:LAPTOP-color Although your computer may be a dull color, your laptop computer sleeve sure doesn't have to be! Guatemalan women first wove cotton cloth and then created these colorful laptop sleeves for you. They are 15" x 11", with a zipper that completely opens along the 11" side and 4.5" down both of the 15" sides. Our Guatemalan laptop sleeves are padded to protect from scratches and minor bumps, lined inside in black, and quilted in a functional and decorative grid pattern (see detail photo below). Fits most standard laptops. It's pictured above with a 13.25" x 9.38" x 1.25" laptop in it.
