The nuts are a renewable resource and are sustainably harvested. The brown color is produced by boiling the tagua in vegetable oil. Unlike painted tagua, this technique adds color while permitting the natural beauty of the nut to show.

Pieces measure about 2.5" high for the pawns (penguins) to about 4" high for the king (eagle).

	The pieces in this Collector's Chess Set are each tagua nuts from Ecuador that have been specifically selected for their size and shape to add a unique dimension to the already cerebral game of chess. The brown is the outer skin of the tagua nut, and the white is the inside of the nut with the skin removed. Each nut is sanded and polished. The handmade chess board 12" x 12" x 0.25".

The chess pieces from left to right (king, queen, bishop, knight, rook, and pawn) measure about 2.5" high for the kings to about 1" high for the pawns.
