For anyone who cooks, or just wants to look good in the kitchen, we present to you two different types of hand crafted aprons.
Recycled Poster Aprons from India:
You don't normally hear the words "recycled", "reversible" and "apron"
in the same sentence, but we also offer aprons from India that are creatively crafted from
pieces of Indian billboard advertisements, which are printed on highly-durable plasticized sheets. Handmade Kalamkari cloth forms the opposite side.
Handwoven Cotton Aprons from Guatemala: From Guatemala, Mayan women have
woven these colorful cotton aprons, as part of a project managed by MayaWorks.
The sturdy cloth is all handwoven using a backstrap loom,
and then transformed into practical and fun aprons.
Please note that colors and designs on most of the Guatemalan and Indian aprons are assorted.
We're showing you some examples. If you'd like a particular

Recycled Poster Aprons from India
Our recycled and reversible aprons from India are creatively crafted from
pieces of Indian billboard advertisements, which are printed on highly-durable plasticized sheets.
These advertisements
are collected from the streets and cleaned and then cut into
the aprons. The back side of each apron is finished with a
finely printed piece of kalamkari fabric that is also
used for the neck and waist straps.
SPEED Trust, (Slum People Education and Economic Development), is a non-profit
organization working in Chennai, India since 2003. They support the socially and
economically deprived women in the urban slums around Chennai
by providing vocational training, micro-credit loans, and educational support for the
women and their children.
Through these programs, women gain greater self-confidence and tools for income generation.
