Marketing Director

One World Projects (OWP) is an established fair trade importer and distributor that has
been operating since 1992. We import handmade crafts, household goods, jewelry and other items
from over 100 artisan groups in more than 25 countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia.
Our mission is to provide viable economic alternatives for artisans and their families,
while serving the most disadvantaged and expanding the reach of ethical and fair trade.
Through compassionate trade we address pressing global issues as poverty, war,
drug abuse, rights of women and children, education, health-care, delinquency, and environmental degradation.
We are looking for a marketing director with 3-5 years marketing experience,
who is motivated, energetic, self-directed, possesses good communication skills, and works well with others.
This position will include:
Identifying, developing, and evaluating marketing strategy, based on knowledge of establishment objectives, market characteristics, and cost and markup factors.
Implementing and executing a marketing plan that will increase both wholesale sales and retail web-based sales.
Developing and following sales-leads with wholesale customers.
Participation in national trade shows.
Managing the activities of a public-relations firm to enhance corporate branding.
Communicating OWP activities, mission, and product and artisan stories through the media,
electronic e-mail, newsletters, blogs, and other appropriate channels of communication.
Providing input into website design and supporting the technology group via database management, writing copy, editing photos and the like.
Managing company's affiliate programs, and fulfillment partnership agreements.

This position requires:
Excellent knowledge of computer and web-based office tools such as E-mail, Excel, Word, Power-Point, Photoshop, etc.
Travel to trade shows (currently a minimum of four per year).
This position is based in Batavia, New York (close proximity to Rochester and Buffalo).
We are open to a telecommuting arrangement with a minimum of 1-week per month in the
Batavia office to work more closely with staff.
In addition to the primary responsibilities for marketing and branding, this position may also entail
communicating with artisans, product development, purchasing product, and some international travel.
A second language can be helpful.
